Energetic Kennedy visual correspondent Video Des has been scouring the world's media for traces of Shakespearean characters made redundant due to the Big Willy's untimely death. He has sent us this latest: "Hi I'm Video Des! I used to be in a band - you may recognise me - and I also worked in a library. This invaluable experience has helped me to spot Shakespearean characters from a mile off. Can't be many around today! I hear you cry, but No! The truth of the matter is, The Bard's inventions are All Around Us. Just look at this for proof. Most recently, I have managed to find another four (four!) Shakespearean characters. BRUTUS - The man himself! After searching the entire West country telephone directories I tracked down his Uncle John, who revealed at great expense to my wallet, that "the mighty Brute" was living in a villa in Spain. After a few more weeks of searching I discovered that this was, in fact, a lie. I returned to Uncle John and using a large aggressive otter, kindly lent to me by a local animal sanctuary, I forced him into revealing that Brutus lives in Enfield, near London. I went to see Brutus, but he spat at me and called me nasty names, so I ran away. RICHARD II - The waif-like King from the play of the same name is now the owner of a stylish boutique on Carnaby Street, situated perfectly in a pleasant part of the street. His store, named cleverly "Richard's" stocks a wide range of fashionable women's clothing at excellent prices. Pop in for an informal chat and a digestive biscuit. THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTISEMENT (honest, it isn't. I swear it, honest!) TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA - Now living in Burnley, these two all-round-nice-guys own a travel agents on the High Street specialising in holidays to Verona. Both are bald. One of them likes Oven chips. So there you have it! Chalk up four more Shakespearos on your Shakespearometer! Next time I'll have more revelations on Shakespeare Watch. If you have any requests please e-mail me at:
So that's it for this month folks. Be vigilant and keep an eye out for those Shakespearos!"
